McArdle Media will be closing permanently on December 31, 2022.
Our remaining clients will receive services through the end of 2022. We are not taking on new clients. To our current and past clients, thank you for your trust in McArdle Media with your marketing. It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve you. Onward and Upward, Jennifer McArdle McArdle Media So Jennifer, what does your typical day look like? I get this question from family, friends, and clients. They are curious about the "behind the scenes" of my business. My answer is the same as most people... There's no such thing as a TYPICAL day. That being said, their is SOME routine to my days.
One part of my routine that I like to share with my clients is my "Daily Account Management." This is something I do for myself and for a few of my clients. My "Daily Account Management" consists of briefly reviewing all of my social media profiles to be sure I am responding to any comments, mentions, and direct messages. People tell me all the time that they don't have time to be on social media everyday. I agree. At times you will fall down a rabbit hole and be "doom scrolling" out of control. That's why I stick to my task and just review the accounts. I have a link that opens up all of my accounts and has them ready in my browser. Then I click on each tab, check for messages, comments, and mentions. I spend time responding, then I move on to the next account. I get into a rhythm and can get through my accounts quickly. I spend a bit more time on client accounts checking on a variety of other things, but it is possible to check my accounts in a matter of minutes. Maybe you don't do it EVERY DAY, but a few times a week can allow you to respond to people in a timely manner. Give it a try. Have question? Let me know. I'd be happy to share my routine with you. Wait... is this is blog about reading or a blog about marketing?!?!This is a blog about marketing, yes. But many people have the best of intentions about reading the latest and greatest books about topics such as marketing, but find they don't have the time.
I am a huge fan of audiobooks. From the days of listening to books on CD in my car to now listening to audiobooks via my smart phone, I am able to squeeze in time to "read"/listen to both fiction and nonfiction books where ever I am. I love listening to nonfiction books about marketing because they give me great ideas to use for my business and for my clients. You can listen to audiobooks through apps like Audible where you pay for each book you listen to. But did you know that many libraries have access to FREE audiobook apps?!?! With your library card you can access apps such as Hoopla and Libby to listen to a wide variety of books for free (your tax dollars at work). If you have questions about what your local library offers, visit them, call them, or check out their website. Now reading those books on your list will be easier, and cheaper, than ever. So you have an idea to share on social media and now you need an image. So you go to Google and search for an image. You save it to your computer and use it on your post. YOU HAVE JUST BROKEN THE LAW!!! There are many cases of people being sued over copyright infringement. I know someone personally who had an image on her website, placed there by the web developer, that was used without permission and she was in some legal trouble over it. According to www.copyrightuser.org, You cannot download or use images from Google without seeking permission from the copyright holder, unless your use falls within one of the exceptions or the work is distributed under an open licence such as Creative Commons. Google is simply a search engine that scans the internet and provides the searcher with any relevant results – copyright holders do not upload their images to Google for free use. If you click on the image you are usually guided to the source website where you might be able to contact the copyright holder for permission. Google Image also offers a tool to filter your search results by usage rights. So where can you get FREE images that you can use?
My favorite 2 tools are Canva and Pixabay. Canva is an online design and publishing tool with a mission to empower everyone in the world to design anything and publish anywhere. With Canva, you would generally use the images in the Canva tool itself, but you could add the image to your design and download it. Pixabay is a vibrant community of creatives, sharing copyright free images, videos and music. All contents are released under the Pixabay License, which makes them safe to use without asking for permission or giving credit to the artist - even for commercial purposes. From Pixabay you can download the images on your computer for your use. Be sure to read the terms of use on both sites to be sure you are in compliance. I am not an attorney and am not providing legal advice. Please do your due diligence to ensure you are complying with all laws. As a marketer I am always on the lookout for tips and tricks that I can use and that I can pass on to my clients. I am a huge fan of HubSpot. They have their fingers on the pulse of the marketing trends.
I read their article, "20 of the Best Marketing Tips, According to HubSpot Blog Data and Experts" written by Corinne McGinley (@CoriMcCoriCori)and felt like I had to share it. Check it out here: https://blog.hubspot.com/insiders/inbound-marketing-tips Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) offers so many great features on the platform, but they also offer some free extras off the platform.
The Google Business Profile Marketing Kit offers free stickers, posters, social posts, and more – from your Business Profile on Google. Simply visit https://marketingkit.withgoogle.com/ and enter your Business Name. You'll be prompted with a ZIP download that you save to computer. You simply unzip the folder and check out the free resources.
